Carrer de la Junta de Comerç, 08001 Barcelona, España
In the contemporary and colourful district near the La Boqueria market, literally steps away from the hubbub of Las Ramblas, is this rooftop oasis apartment. With a light-filled, top-floor location with views out over the rooftops of Barcelona, this 3-bed apartment is perfect for those who prefer a cosy, homely-style retreat in the heart of the bustling city. A shared terracotta roof terrace is a great place to watch the world go by on the streets below, or catch up with friends from our downstairs sister apartment “Junta de comerc 3” over a glass of sangria.
This apartment has been recently renovated and modernised, but maintains a traditional Spanish charm with period features – including the original 16th century wooden beams adding a rustic touch to the apartment’s ceilings. There is a big kitchen where you can cook together or separately with space to spare. There is a separate bathroom for the use of two bedrooms and a large en suite bedroom, with a private mini-terrace which opens out onto scenic rooftop views. Each bedroom is individually lockable, and the building itself has an additional hallway entrance gate for an added layer of security.
Following a successful urban revitalisation of the area, the area around La Boqueria Market is now one of the most fashionable areas in town. Artists, designers, musicians, and young professionals have flocked, and within walking distance of the apartment you’ll find some of the city’s best bars, newest restaurants and finest contemporary culture, set against a backdrop of historic architecture and winding narrow streets.
The nearby imposing white, glass-fronted MACBA modern art museum houses a brilliant mixed collection of well-known names, including famed Spanish artists Dali, Picasso and Velazquez, and exciting temporary exhibitions from emerging artists. Skateboarders outside use the gleaming open square to practice their tricks from dawn to dusk, whilst the surrounding streets pack in contemporary design stores, fashion boutiques and cosy corner cafes. If it is bohemian charm mixed with vibrant modern style you’re after, La Boqueria is the place to be.
