Each bedroom is individually lockable, and the building itself has an additional hallway entrance gate for an added layer of security.

Following a successful urban revitalisation of the area, the area around La Boqueria Market is now one of the most fashionable areas in town. Artists, designers, musicians, and young professionals have flocked, and within walking distance of the apartment you’ll find some of the city’s best bars, newest restaurants and finest contemporary culture, set against a backdrop of historic architecture and winding narrow streets.

The nearby imposing white, glass-fronted MACBA modern art museum houses a brilliant mixed collection of well-known names, including famed Spanish artists Dali, Picasso and Velazquez, and exciting temporary exhibitions from emerging artists. Skateboarders outside use the gleaming open square to practice their tricks from dawn to dusk, whilst the surrounding streets pack in contemporary design stores, fashion boutiques and cosy corner cafes. EAT: Caravelle (c/ Pinto Fortuny, 31) – With arguably the best eggs in town, head here if you’re craving a brunch that packs a punch with a side of quality barista-made coffee. Its market-sourced, seasonal menu is packed full of offerings such as Moroccan-style baked eggs, corn fritters with avocado and pesto or creamy French Toast, served up in a modern, airy cantina-style setting.

SHOP: Nuovum (c/ Pinto Fortuny 30) – Wander across the road after brunch and check out this design concept store – a hub for upcoming designers to show off unique and original wares. No standard-issue tourist tat here.

DO: Institut d’Estudis Catalans (Career del Carme) – Housing the present day Institute for Catalan Studies, this historic building and hidden courtyard is a cool, calm oasis offering a respite from the busy city just beyond its stone archways. With mosaic tiled walls, bubbling fountains and a courtyard café – this is the perfect place to chill with friends, grab a morning coffee or just get away from it all.
